As experts from the University of Wisconsin Vet School in Madison observed, past work has shown that dogs are interested in following motion on TV screens, so they allowed that the attention of man’s four-legged friends can be held long enough to assess their visual functions.
The researchers conducted a questionnaire among dog owners, in which they were asked to shed light on what their animals like to watch on TV. They were asked to answer a total of 41 questions, which included direct information about the animals, as well as data on what kind of screen was being used, what was being watched, and exactly how the dogs behaved while doing so. A total of 1,200 dog owners from the US, Britain and other nations participated in the survey. More than half of the animals were purebred, the ratio of females and males was approximately equal, and the average age was estimated at 4 years.
